Abstract
Home movie footage taken by Rhodes Patterson during his time as reconnaissance photographer based in India and the Northern Mariana Islands during World War II. Features footage of army base and barracks on Tinian island and of B-29 planes takeoff, in-air, and landing. The final few minutes of the film include cutaways to footage from a commercially-produced erotic film.
Description
Shots of army base and barracks on Tinian. Shots of airplanes on the runway during takeoff/landing. Shots inside the cockpit of a plane during flight with in-air shots of islands, the ocean, and other planes in flight formations. Shots of the Officers' Club on base, which features a sculpture of a nude woman and a mural featuring cartoonish topless women along with the word "Tinian!"
Towards the end of the film, Patterson cuts between his own footage and scenes from a collected erotic film. In the cheesecake film, two women picnic on a beach, undress, and sunbathe. Following a cut to footage Patterson shot of a shirtless soldier walking along a beach and removing his sunglasses, the women grab their things and leave the beach.
