Abstract
Home movie shot while Rhodes Patterson was a reconnaissance photographer based in India and the Northern Mariana Islands during World War II.
Description
The first half features a Christmas 1944 baseball game between cross-dressing medics and nurses at the Piardoba Airfield in India. Now abandoned, the airfield was home to the United States Army Air Force 462d Bombardment Group during World War II, prior to its deployment to the Mariana Islands.
The group relocated to West Field, Tinian, in the Northern Mariana Islands on April 4, 1945. The rest of the footage was shot there, and includes a tennis match and a musical stage performance.
