SERIES IV: EVERYDAY PEOPLE Work Prints, Elements and Outtakes by JoAnn Elam

Abstract
SERIES IV of the JoAnn Elam Collection contains workprints, elements, audio and outtakes affiliated with Elam's unfinished film, EVERYDAY PEOPLE (1979 - 1990). The documentary was based on Elam's experiences as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Chicago, the various people she met while on the job, the political struggles they faced with the administration and the union, and larger issues related to the history of labor struggle and activism in the United States. In 1984, Elam was awarded an American Film Institute-National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowship Award to work on the film.

During the production of this title, Elam employed multiple formats, including 16mm, 8mm and various video and audio formats. To the best of our knowledge, the most complete rough cut of EVERYDAY PEOPLE is a VHS dupe.
