Abstract
Home movie featuring Alex and Penny Mandusich of Skokie, IL visiting Alex's large extended family in the village of Sredska, Prizren, Kosovo (then part of Serbia), around 1971.
Description
Penny Mandusich leads a large group up a hill, towards a small church called Bogarodica ("Holy Mother of God"), surrounded by the Shar Mountains. Her husband Alex's extended family follow with stuff for a picnic; a few come up the hill on horseback. The whole village seems to be invited—it’s a big deal when an American cousin comes to visit. There is a view of the rooftops of the village, showing how small the village of Sredska is—only several houses. Then the Orthodox priest blesses some of the family with holy water outside the church. Alex’s cousin’s son Goyko was likely filming.
