Abstract
Kinescope of part one of a four part series, The Whys of Wise Parenthood. In this episode, Dr. Herbert Ratner leads a discussion with a group of men on their views on fatherhood. The series aired on WTTW in May 1958.
Oak Park's Oak Leaves newspaper wrote of the program, “The series will be an experiment in educational television. The Whys of Wise Parenthood will only begin on television, and will continue in village homes. Immediately after seeing the program, home viewer groups will discuss the ideas presented. Each group will outline its areas of agreement and disagreement, and will send written reports back to channel 11. The size of each home group has been set at approximately four couples. They will watch an hour-long presentation on television, led by Dr. Ratner, with a studio group of 30 parents participating.” (“Parents Join in TV Series,” April 17 1958)
