We waited a long time to unveil this idea.

We wanted to test it, check it, perfect it.

Now the time is right, the idea is right.

And fitting contact lenses will never again be the same, because we've got a system.

Health care has come a long way.

It has become specialized, subspecialized, and super specialized.

Certainly this is true in eye care.

No longer need we rely upon instruments invented a century ago and virtually unchanged since.

Today we have the tools to keep pace with our patients' needs and our needs for providing better care.

Today we take a giant step into the age of specialization with System 2000.

What is System 2000? In a word, assistance.

Computer assistance in your practice.

In a sentence, it's a means of photographing the cornea and measuring it with a computer to get more precise specifications.

For a lens so comfortable, so well fitted, it can well be called the gentle lens.

In practice, it needs you to start it, your examination and prescription for your patient's needs.

Then System 2000 begins with a cornea.

The cornea curves, a lens curves.

Interrelate those curves and you've designed a perfect fit.

Simple, not so simple.

The cornea is not symmetrical.

No two corneas are alike.

And to properly design a lens, the true corneal curves must be precisely measured.

System 2000 does it with a camera, a photo electronic keratoscope, the P .E .K.

The camera sees a target projected on the cornea, a contour map of the cornea.

Where the curve is steep, the rings are small.

Where the curve is flat, the rings are spread apart.

Mark III shows the curve completely and correctly.

Center the image, focus.

An exposure is made.

And within ten seconds, a photo, a keratograph of the cornea is processed.

This plus your reflection starts off System 2000.

Measuring the curve comes next.

At a Wesley Jessen visual data station, the photo is scanned.

Distances between rings are measured.

Readings are taken, data covering up to 28 points on each cornea.

Then, along with your prescription, the data is translated into computer language.

The computer is what makes System 2000 tick.

It does the searching.

It does the calculating.

Making nearly a quarter million calculations in a few seconds.

And it does the retrieving.

Reporting back its analysis in a printout that becomes a permanent part of the patient's file.

A printout that provides precisely controlled clearances, giving the best fit lens.

System 2000 follows through in lens design exclusively at Wesley Jessen.

Here, continuity is stressed with consistency throughout production.

From formulating our own ophthalmic plastics to using special techniques and tools.

Specially trained technicians write through our own series of 21 inspections.

Then, along with your patient's printout and keratographs, the lenses arrive ready for fitting.

The result? A lens so precisely measured, so carefully made.

A lens so comfortable, we call it the gentle lens.
