I'm Chuck Kleinhans, I'm a super 8 filmmaker.

I've been going to Chicago filmmakers for 10 years.

I'm one of the first people who used to go there.

It used to be great in the winter over at the Old Name Gallery.

They shut off the heat for the weekend and so when you were inside you had to wear gloves, you had to wear a hat, you could see your breath in front of your eye, in front of your face.

You really felt like you were a monk of the cinema or something like that, braving all hardships and physical problems and everything to see the best in avant -garde cinema.

And that was the start of my career really in reviewing and writing about avant -garde film.

And I first saw Yvonne Rayner's first film, Lives of Performers, at that space and wrote about it in Women in Film magazine, which helped get Rayner's reputation established.

And after that it was nice for Annette Michelson to pick up on Rayner and to write about her in Art Forum.

So actually in that case Chicago was ahead of New York.

We were not second city, we were first city in terms of recognizing that distinguished filmmaker.

Well considering that I just married an alien homosexual, I really don't have too much to say about marital bliss but it's pretty good.

Because they'll watch my own movies.

That's what kids are for.

Don't you feel like you have this biological need to have children? A biological craving.

What do you mean I don't feel it? But you may sometime or you may never.

Then again you may have children somewhere that you don't even know about.

There are strong bank thieves who come in the middle of the night and catch you at the peak of your realm.

Nobody's ever caught my spin.

If you don't have kids you can't shoot no movies.
