Abstract
Footage shot in Toronto during the International Experimental Film Congress, held May 28-June 4, 1989.
Description
Begins with shots of Henry Moore's Large Two Forms sculpture outside the Art Gallery of Ontario at Dundas and McCaul Streets, the CN Tower, and businesses in West Chinatown. Later, Stamets films filmmaker Carolee Schneemann as she stuffs wires into her mouth, Howard Guttenplan interviews a man about experimental film outside of the AGO's Jackman Hall, and Pat O'Neill delivers 35mm film prints. Stamets' camera lingers on a sign advertising an "Alternative Open Screening," the exterior of the Canadian chapter of the Showmen's League of America, street signs, graffiti reading "RESIST," a motorcycle, a streetcar, and a souvenir hat display at a store called Remembrance. The reel concludes with footage of the base of a statue of Winston Churchill and the Speakers' Corner dais outside Toronto City Hall.
