Custodial History
The film was made by Richard Guetl, and was subsequently given to his friends Norman and Christine Freise in the 1960s. The Freise's daughter Pam Glenn obtained the film when Norman passed in 2016, and she donated it to CFA in 2022.

Appointments must be made with Chicago Film Archives for on-site access. Due to the fragile nature of the films, only video copies will be provided for on-site viewing.

Creators
Guetl, Richard (was created by)
Richard "Dick" Guetl (1913–1996) was an amateur filmmaker from Chicago. He was involved with Metro Movie Club and presented his travelogs across the region. His 8mm film The Big City received "Honorable Mention" from the Amateur Cinema League's "Ten Best 1952" awards, and first award in the 8mm division of a Metro Movie Club film contest the same year.

He was also a city chess champion, and his replica of the Columbian Exposition ferris wheel (made from 14,000 toothpicks) was featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum in Chicago. He was married to Louise Guetl, and the two lived in the Ravenswood area of Chicago.
