Folking Ballet, written about 1911, premiered in Paris, but is primarily performed in the Soviet Union.

Music is by Stravinsky.

It's a favorite of Panof's, and he's been very highly acclaimed for this.

You know, he really is an acting dancer.

And this is the story of a puppet that has a human soul.

["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] ["Pomp and Circumstance"] He really is spectacular.

Yeah, the leaves and the control.

Yeah, and the drama and the patience he gets behind.

He's terrific.

There are two kinds of dancers, aren't there? There's kind of the very classical dancers, and then...

What do they call somebody like that? I think he's famous as a character dancer.

What's a character dancer? Well, I think it's more of a dancing actor or an acting dancer.

What's next? Oh, this is the Paderdu from Harlequinade.

It's a ballet that was written by Petipa in 1900 for the Amherst Theater, one of the czarist palaces in Russia.

And this ballet draws on the commedia dell 'art style of the pre -renaissance states of Italy.

And Petipa wrote Harlequinade to accompany the music of the Russian composer Drigo.

And the Harlequinade character that Penov plays is a grotesque, mocking, and comic one.

And again, it emphasizes his talent for what you were talking about, character dancing.

Right.

Right.
