Abstract
A silent home movie that shows an elderly woman as she enters and rides in a Rolls-Royce to a house. She then proceeds to pose performatively in various rooms for the camera.
Description
The film begins with a shot of an elderly woman as she is escorted by a younger man into the rear passenger seat of a Rolls-Royce, and he drives them down a residential street. Upon arrival at their destination, she walks toward the home’s front entrance. The rest of the film comprises interior footage. The woman sits at a table in a den directly in front of a wall adorned with woven basketry. As the handheld camera pans across the walls, the woman flips through portrait pictures. This is followed by expansive shots of the woman sitting in a porch furnished with plants, and then another sequence begins with the woman descending a staircase. After reaching the foot of the stairs, the woman glances at a mirror in the hallway. The film then cuts to her sheet music arrangement and she begins to play the piano. This is followed by several short shots of the woman sitting in various seats. The final sequence shows a middle-aged woman wearing an apron and standing in the kitchen next to a dog. She pours a beverage for the older woman as she sits at the dining table.
