You You Almost everybody gets sick or hurt at some time When those moments occur nothing is more comforting than friendly faces and the feeling that your problem is understood and incompetent hands Medical science has solved many of the mysteries of illness Diseases once fatal or crippling can now be cured pain alleviated Medical technology has done much to improve the lot of humanity At Baxter Travinov.

We're part of that effort an effort that benefits people worldwide And also those of us who work here all of us Medical care There have been many advances in the last 50 years and we here at Baxter Travinov are part of that progress founded in 1931 Baxter Travinov achieved early success by convincing leading research hospitals the pioneers and intravenous therapy That we could produce intravenous fluids more efficiently than the hospitals themselves Over the years we've contributed many new developments in medical technology Among the most significant was the artificial kidney which was pioneered and developed by Baxter Travinov Out of Baxter Travinov's commitment to research has come many new products for example our bioflex introduced in 1970 was the first flexible plastic container for IV solutions In recent years more patients have received infusions from bioflex than from any other IV system and in 1976 we expanded its usefulness with the addition of the mini bag under fill container system This allows the precise infusion of other medications Because of the closed system bioflex reduces the chances of airborne Contamination and lessens the possibility of further complications To add to what is probably the most complete line of IV products in the world in 1976 we introduced a product called Travis all Travis all is an IV solution that provides total nutrition for people suffering from severe burns trauma Wasting diseases such as cancer Travis all provides everything needed to build new tissue Thus strengthening the body in the difficult struggle against disease or trauma This and all our products are produced by people who know that in this line of work Quality is not only important It's a matter of life and death Our emphasis of course is on life all our products are meant to sustain it and improve it Dr.

Prennazar for six Nowhere is the life -sustaining capacity of Baxter -Travonol products more in evidence than in the TMO the travenol membrane oxygenator used for open -heart surgery During surgery the heart of the patient is removed from the body system The work of the heart and lungs is taken over by the TMO which breathes life -sustaining Oxygen into the patient's blood and does it with less strain on the blood than earlier methods Kidney dialysis from a laboratory curiosity to a practical therapeutic technique We continue to lead the way in this field with our recently introduced capillary flow dialyzer With this addition to our coil and parallel plate dialyzer lines We become the only company to offer physicians all three types of dialyzers These techniques are now keeping thousands of people alive around the world a Blood sample for testing is being taken in the traditional way But the sample will be tested by a remarkable new device called the laser nephalometer VDQ What this machine does with great speed and accuracy is to analyze the protein concentration in the patient's blood Information doctors must have for diagnosis in many cases The laser nephalometer was judged one of the 100 most significant technical developments of 1976 by Industrial Research Magazine It's produced by our aminco division and marketed by our Highland diagnostics division Demonstrating clearly the great value of a fully integrated and coordinated company In 1976 we continued to contribute substantially as a leader in blood delivery systems Quick cath IV placement catheters continued to help more and more people who needed intravenous therapy for long periods of time and Our fine surgical gloves found increasing use around the world Worldwide we find our products more and more in demand Manufacturing marketing or distribution facilities were started or extended in Ireland and Spain in France and Norway in Switzerland and Iran There are almost five billion people on this planet We are different in many ways rich poor short tall skins of many shades But blood is the same color a world over That we haven't seen before Common Through its international operations Baxter -travinall has an increasing part in advancing medical standards Throughout much of the world our products go to hospitals around the globe We have much to offer What we do can help You You know There's hardly a place in this world without hospitals and wherever there are hospitals our products are needed Baxter -travinall in responding to these needs has achieved continued success last year increasing our sales for the 22nd year in a row to six hundred and eighty one million dollars Health care and improvement in health care is something people around the world will always want and need So as our company continues to meet these unending demands We'll naturally keep on growing We can expect to distribute our products in more than 90 countries we're already serving We'll also have more than our current 25 ,000 employees both in the United States and other parts of the world For just as hospitals in the United States need production plants in this country Foreign hospitals to need manufacturing facilities there We've been doing a good job in meeting these growing needs and our company has never been in a stronger position to meet future ones and That means continuing and increasing opportunities for personal growth and career development for all of us who work at Baxter -travinall We can all feel satisfaction in our successful year in 1976 and Because Baxter -travinall has had financial success we have grown We can each feel proud that in doing so we've done a great deal to improve man's lot in life Good morning.
