Footage shot by Rhodes Patterson of the 1,000+ attendees gathering around the the First National Bank Plaza in the Chicago Loop to hear a a free, public Duke Ellington concert on July 11th, 1979.
Description
This silent footage of the audience gathering in anticipation to see Duke Ellington in 1979 features shots of the First National Bank on 70 West Madison in the Loop. Crowd members can be seen climbing nearby building facades, stairwells, and rooftops to get a good view. The Italian Village marquee and the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial sculptures can be seen in several shots.
