You I Should like to rise and go where the golden apples grow Where below another sky Parrot Islands anchored lie And watch by cockatoos and goats lonely Crusoe's building boats Where the great wall around China goes and on one side the desert blows And with Bell and voice and drum cities on the other What happens to imagination when childhood fades Where does our curiosity go? What happened to those castles in Spain those frantically dug holes to China just one scoop ahead of the surging tide? Where are those fantasy flights to the moon those swashbuckling sails to the Orient? Whatever became of our curiosity about what existed on the underside of a rock The other side of a hill the far side of the sea Whatever happened to our desire to see the other side of them It's still there this curiosity this childhood imagination this instinct still remains But life's pace has quickened You I Allow us to become precious moments set aside by today's activities tomorrow's responsibilities Our reveries have been replaced by routine now fantasies by fact our desires by reality It is there a person today who doesn't long for change Whose mental appetite cannot be stimulated into seeking out his Parrot Island wherever it may be Who these people are is already known, but how may they best be motivated? Magazines stir the wanderlust in you they stimulate longing Magazines cultivate the pioneer spirit Magazines build anticipation Magazines inspire with places to go people to see things to do Magazines stimulate all the senses Magazines stimulate all the senses Magazines nurture our instinctive desire to travel Magazines are wanderlust I should like to rise and go where the golden apples grow Where among the desert sands some deserted city stands? There I'll come when I'm a man with a camel caravan Light a fire in the room of some dusty dining room See the pictures on the walls heroes fights and festivals And in a corner find the toys of the old Egyptian boys You
