Abstract
Scenes from the annual "shop picnic" for the Eagle Sheet Metal Factory in the early 1940s. The picnics were major company-sponsored all-day events held in reserved sections of the Cook County Forest Preserve. This film includes scenes of employees and their families playing horseshoes, tug-of-war, bingo, and an egg race, as well as grilling sausages and drinking beer. Also depicted is the Eagle's baseball team, which played in an industrial league.
