You become accustomed to the common sights in our everyday world, but can you recognize them from the ANSI point of view? Let's play a game and find out.

Number one might be a glacier or a tennis ball.

Would you call this an aerial shot of the moon or a relief map? Number three is probably a fossil or maybe an orange squeezer.

What's this? A tray of mom's cookies or a collection of glass eyes? Number five is easy, a pile of lumber.

These could be uncut diamonds or fish eggs.

And seven, a warrior's shield or a brass gong.

Hey, maybe a new kind of waffle or did you say a silk stocking? And you think number nine might be rose petals, eh? We couldn't fool you on ten.

It looks just like a cargo net.

And eleven, is it the coal bin? How many did you guess right? Well, if you said bread for number one, you were exactly on the nose.

Number two is nothing more than a leaf of a potted plant.

This looks like a fossil, but actually it's just a squeezer.

Mom's cookies, you said? Not quite, just a bunch of pencils.

Half credit if you said lumber.

It is a wood product at least.

Diamonds and fish eggs are both wrong.

That's right, common everyday table salt.

Number seven fooled us too.

We didn't even consider a thimble.

Waffle or stocking? Stocking is quite right, nylon that is.

And who would ever have guessed breakfast food? It looked like anything but that to us too.

If you fell for that cargo net idea, we'll give you credit although it actually is only a dishcloth.

Coal bin? Nope.

And good or bad, we'll take it.

Abstract

"An experimental exercise with extension tubes, picturing textures in extreme closeup. Such materials as salt, bread, leaves, nylon hose, coffee grounds, book edges, etc., are shown highly magnified, then later identified in medium closeup shots. Idea is similar to quiz feature appearing currently in the Ford Times magazine. Camera used was a 16mm Bolex with one-inch lens and 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" extension tubes." – Home Movies, Sept. 1947, p. 586
