Abstract
Rock Lobster is a new wave/disco melodrama set in 1978 that was produced, written and directed by Dan Dinello. The narrative plays out the violent conflict between a lethargic, gun-toting service station attendant and his disco-obsessed, grocery check-out girlfriend who falls hard for a rich oil heir who lives in a Saturday Night Fever fantasy world.
The movie stars Jim Desmond, the longtime Chicago rock and blues musician. Michael Goi shot the movie in Chicago with an all-Chicago crew. Locations include Tuts club, Jewel food store (Southport Ave), Belmont Avenue near Clark, and Foster Beach.
