Abstract
A film produced by William H. Birch & Associates for the city of Chicago documenting the 1976 Urban Homestead Demonstration Program. The program dispensed 44 single-family homes in the Roseland and Austin neighborhoods, which had been abandoned, to applicants for $1. The new homeowners would then need to rehabilitate the house and remain in it for three years in order to claim full ownership.
