Abstract
"Ten Billion Dollar Bash was shot [spring 1979] at Antioch College during the Memorial Day weekend. Visually it is a personal diary film. But while I was there, everyone was talking about the financial crisis. Antioch was in debt. There was a discrepancy between what I was seeing and shooting, and what I was hearing, and I wanted to do something with that discrepancy. The sound track clashes against the image. It's a Marxist home movie. I went back to Yellow Springs during commencement time and showed the film twice. About 90 people saw it. It was a film about what was the main thing on their minds at the time. The film was made for under $100 and shown to a restricted audience. A filmmaker can make a film for a small audience and not feel silly or extravagant doing it." -- Chuck Kleinhans, interview with Adelaide Moorman, Point of View No. 5 (Chicago Filmmakers Newsletter), Spring 1980.
