Abstract
Loosely assembled footage includes depictions of the following: Rev. Jesse Jackson and U.S. Rep. Harold Washington both speak at several venues, including the McCormick Inn where Washington announces his winning of the Democratic mayoral primary election on February 23, 1983; Jackson speaks at Rudy Lozano’s funeral mass held at St. Pius V Catholic Church on June 13, 1983; President Bill Clinton, First Lady Hillary Clinton, and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros attempt to garner public support for an anti-crime bill during a trip to the Robert Taylor Homes in Bronzeville on June 17, 1994; Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Joseph Gardner declares his candidacy for mayor in Grant Park on August 28, 1994; mayoral candidate Saturnino Noriega delivers a speech; Mayor Richard M. Daley promotes his “Safe Neighborhoods Bill,” and the bill’s supporters rally outside of the Illinois State Capitol on November 15, 1994.
