Abstract
Hot Nasty is a humorous documentary short set entirely inside a Chicago massage parlor called Big Bertha’s. The film features interviews with the women who work there, openly sharing funny stories about how they got into the business, dealing with different patrons, and so on.
The women are depicted as a boisterous bunch, poking fun and simulating sex acts even as they share details regarding their financial difficulties. The filmmaker, Palazzolo, makes a brief and funny cameo as a police officer one of the women talks about having dealt with at some point.
Halfway through, the business’ proprietor reveals that the term “hot nasty” refers to one of their key services: a woman is hired to narrate the client’s fantasy to them – no intercourse is involved.
Both irreverent and deeply humanistic, Hot Nasty vividly captures the humor inherent to all intimate, social interactions – paid or not.
