How old do you think I am? Come on, gas, Sonny! Eighty.
No.
Sixty -five.
Seventy.
Hooray for my side! Oh, ho, ho, ho! Don't forget we got the hula girls over there.
Hula girls? Hula girls, sure, they're going to take off their clothes and you're going to see their bare skin.
Oh, how's that? Oh, how's that for fun? Now listen, that's enough, Charlie.
What else is going on today? Oh, well, I don't know.
I feel like dancing.
That's one thing I could do.
Oh, the music is in the wrong place.
Oh, you should come to our park.
At Mark Captain 67, could we dance? Oh, brother.
And some of them 80, 85 years old.
I'm telling you.
So, hooray for my side.
Oh, come on, that's enough.
Look at that goofy old lady.
Oh, now listen.
Goodbye, Charlie, goodbye.
Please, please, mister, don't take my picture.
Please.
Well, I hope we all have a very nice day and we hope that it won't rain.
And God bless you.
I hope you don't break your promise.
So you don't need that.
You might need it on there.
Is it for the paper? Thank you for taking my picture.
I hope you don't break your promise.
He didn't get it.
Well, I know, but you see, but she's an individual.
I asked her a simple question.
Are you with the group? No.
And then you answered.
I'm talking to you, sweetheart.
Thank you, enjoy it.
See, we give them to the group leaders when there's a group.
Honey, I said, but you said you're with the group, aren't you? If you think yourself that's different, then you're not with the group.
Then you're yourself.
Oh, they're interesting.
Check out, I don't want to put them here.
Here.
Oh, that's a...oh, boy.
I put my money in.
Honey, but you didn't come with the group? I came in a bus, but I don't know.
Well, then see that you're with the group.
Well, you were with the group if you were in a bus, man.
I had to pay money.
Oh, that's different.
There you go.
Now you see how you answered that? So simple to give a decent answer.
Who takes this? Be delighted, ma 'am.
Yeah, thank you.
You're going to be this old one day.
When you guys get that old, wow, you're in.
Hit the jackpot.
Good.
We had a gang of your people around here a little while ago.
Keep the window open.
Keep the window open.
I think that is all.
Yeah, tear them off.
These are food tickets here.
This is a drawing for prizes for these old folks.
And this one indicates that journey again.
There's that journey close by.
Maybe you're going somewhere.
But watch out.
There's going to be a little bit of a theft in your life.
So watch out.
And maybe you have something to do with this friend who isn't really a friend.
Oh, but this is another good luck card.
See, you're going to gain riches through stocks.
And this one signifies you have very friendly disposition.
This is great joyous here.
There's going to be a little bit of trouble.
And maybe it has to do with that sneaky friend because they're so close by.
This indicates that there's somebody that's pretty catty that's around you.
This one is a very good luck card.
And hey, it says the right person is going to come along and you're going to have a happy marriage.
Oh, you're going to get a sudden shock from some bad news.
But it'll work out fine because this is a nice good luck card.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're starting to serve the hot dogs and the pop now.
Remember, you must have tickets.
No ticky, no hot dogs.
Okay.
You got two tickets for hot dogs, two for pop.
And we have a special treat from the Kellogg's coming.
Quicker old coming here for wild things.
You don't have a ticket, you're out of luck.
There you are.
Dirty cop.
I pushed him out of the way when he was here.
He wanted to get ahead of here.
And then he said he'd go up in front and I said, I'll bet anybody in the business here $10 against one, he'll go up in front.
And he did.
You're getting your picture taken.
That's right.
What's your picture taken? What's that? What paper? Holy murder mother St.
Pete and Diffendyer.
What newspaper? What movie? Tribune.
Tribune, that's my paper.
That's my paper.
You haven't had anything, huh? You haven't had anything.
Somebody's been in here for a while.
You haven't had something.
And now we have a surprise guest with us this afternoon.
In fact, he didn't know he was scheduled to come out here.
But he was very happy about it when he heard that this was a senior citizen picnic and he said I'd love to come out.
So at this time I would like to introduce to you Senator Ben Palmer of the 12th district who has a few remarks.
Mr.
Palmer, please.
Ladies and gentlemen, just like the chairman said, there'll just be a few remarks.
I just want to make one statement that I have the honor of saying that in the 12th district of the city of Chicago, they have more senior citizen facilities than in any other district in the city of Chicago and I'm very proud of it.
I don't want to go into a lengthy speech but I do want to do this and I say this sincerely.
I want to thank you for all that you've done in the past and helped not only building the great city of Chicago but building the foundations and the institutions of this great country because you have done a lot.
But I also want to congratulate you for the concern that you are showing in government.
Because we in the Senate, I want you to know that you are being represented well by your leadership and your committees.
They do contact us very frequently.
They communicate with us and I do also want to say sincerely that we do pay a good deal and proper attention to all senior citizens matters.
I want to wish you health and also for today have a good time.
Thank you.
Thank you, Senator Palmer.
The police protection thing worked out better didn't it? Getting the checks cashed.
The other counties pretty good.
We really got really good.
We're trying to help out on those telephone rates too.
In our Chicago Park District, we have thousands of senior citizens partaking in our program of family good health, yoga today.
It helps senior citizens by helping them gain a positive mental attitude, teaching enthusiasm, the art of relaxation without excessive alcohol unless they take drugs prescribed by a physician.
Because excessive alcohol or drugs are merely a crutch.
We also teach weight control and body tone.
We want to help senior citizens because most of them are filled with depression, self -hitty thinking, what is there in life for me? Thank you.
I have a request.
Just say hello, Dolly.
And I hope you all enjoy it.
Dolly, I can tell.
Dolly, you're still growing, you're still growing, you're still growing.
From I feel a force, a place, and a band.
Place one of your old favorite tunes from Wake I Quit.
Take her back, fellas, find her a death in flat color.
Dolly never goes away, Dolly never goes away, Dolly never goes away again.
One for you, one for you, one for you.
Give me a lend one, huh? Surprise! Whoever wins takes me home with them.
Yeah, yeah.
That guy is a good eater.
Get on the end, girls, get on the end.
Those of you, stand on the line in the back.
That's all right.
Stand on the line in the back.
You're all set.
Start another line in the back.
I take care of all the women.
Ladies and gentlemen, the youngest senior here for the day.
We have another young lady here I'd like to have you meet.
Come over here.
You can crowd in on her.
Hold your plate, hold your plate now.
And we're going to start right down the center here.
And as we tell you to go, you go.
Who else is losing? All right, go out there and stand right by your plate now.
Okay, we told them out there, man, get a good girl there.
Hey, hey, hey! Don't throw them yet.
Why are you throwing them? Let me catch it.
You're going to go get the plate.
It's from the center here, please.
Don't throw until he catches it.
Oh, honey, oh, oh, oh, you throw it right there.
Stay right here.
Come here.
Stay right here.
Don't you move.
Now we got one, two, and three.
Now, I'm not worried about that out there.
Here's where we're going.
Throw right in her head.

Right in her head.
Let her fly, honey, let her fly.
Ah, that's a good try.
That's for next year.
Oh, all right.
That's a good try.
The wind is blowing this way.
Now wait.
First time I ever won anything.
You're that shoe.
Your boyfriend is walking for you.
He's in a state of confusion.
He can't fly anymore.
All right, all you ladies line up there again because we're going to have a shoe -kicking contest.
All right, the three winners over here.
Go right up on, bring them up on a stage here now.
Okay, go ahead.
Are you going now? Okay, I'll have to ask somebody else.
Where's my three winners? Mark, back to the plate.

Oh.
All right, this is for the grand championship now.
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
We welcome you to a few minutes of entertainment presented by the Hawaiian dancers from Marquette Park.
They are under the direction of Mrs.
Helen Hazenbank.
This is not a professional group.
We are all senior citizens.
And as the music director says, we are proud of it.
But we are young of heart, and we have a lot of nerve.
