Abstract
A home movie depicting youth participating in group track races, a baseball game, and other group activities.
Description
A large group of children and teenagers raises the American flag. The following scenes appear to have been shot in a city park, likely Chicago's Revere Park, where the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club was located, and show children and teenagers running in a race. Cut-in shots show boys holding signs announcing the 50 Yard Dash, 75 Yard Dash, and 100 Yard Dash and the winners of these races. Other brief shots show men standing next to a bus that says "Neighborhood Boys Club" on the side, a young man holding a sign advertising the NBC Grand Raffle, crowds of youth milling around, a baby in a buggy, and a hand holding a stopwatch.
Near the end of the reel, the scene switches to footage of an NBC baseball game. A cut-in shot shows a sign reading "First Cub Game Sat. 12:30." In the next shot, a stream of children are shown emerging from a wooden building, some waving at the camera.
The final shot shows a group of youth walking down a city street, likely Irving Park Road, with businesses including the Revere Tavern.
