Abstract
Contains a sequence with five women role-playing as suffragettes, most wearing 19th century dresses and skirts with one wearing a checkered pantsuit with a more modern look; and a sequence with a young boy and two teenagers playing with a toy car in a park on a sunny winter day.
Description
Begins with a sequence of shots showing women strutting down a paved path in front of a brick wall, dressed as suffragettes in elegant 19th century and early 20th century outfits, lit by warm daylight. Some wear wide sun hats or carry parasols. Several of them are then shown from the shoulders up, engaged in conversation with the filmmaker or others offscreen. They are then shown, from across a street, holding signs reading "WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE" and "VOTES FOR WOMEN," chanting slogans and cheering.
The next sequence begins with a red-haired boy (Bruce Armstrong) driving a toy car down a path in a park, wearing a heavy black coat and hat with earmuffs. There is a little bit of snow on the ground but the sky is blue. Then, two older boys (Roger and Donald Armstrong) pose behind the boy as if they are passengers in the car.
