Abstract
Scenes from a vacation in Florida and a young child's development. Donald, a toddler, is shown playing with fallen leaves and a hose, and his mother and siblings are seen enjoying picnics and fresh air.
Description
A baby in a bonnet is standing in a playpen. We then see him sitting on a lawn, playing with fallen leaves and smiling. He stands up and takes balanced steps and becomes amused throwing leaves into the air and watching them fall. We then see a woman holding him at her side, posing with two older children. This sequence is interrupted with a fleeting, underexposed shot of a large rodent (a gopher?) peering out behind chicken wire. We then see a sweeping panoramic shot of a large pond foregrounding a large, wide building, perhaps a clubhouse or a hotel. One of the young boys is shown venturing out onto a dock extending into the lake. Returning to the family, we see the woman and children on a picnic blanket in front of an automobile. A toddler holds a hose, at first looking dazed and holding it still, and then fitfully shaking the hose in subsequent shots, amused at the way the water splashes.
