Abstract
Loosely assembled footage depicts the dedication ceremony for sculptor John David Mooney’s “Skokie Light Sculpture,” including a speech by Mooney and a ribbon-cutting moment with Mayor Albert J. Smith on September 24, 1978 in Skokie, Illinois. Introductory and concluding montage sequences present Chicago’s 1977 St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrations, various other unspecified parade marches, a ceremony at Soldier Field, a spinning Yo-Yo amusement park ride lit up in the evening, exterior shots of the Museum of Science and Industry, an auto show, televised footage of cars as they launch chaotically off a hill, a lacrosse match, Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain, various outdoor nature scenery, fireworks, and the Venetian Night Boat Parade.
