Abstract
Home movie featuring the 28th International Eucharistic Congress (held June 20-24, 1926 in Chicago), as well as a family trip to Colorado.
Description
The film begins with footage of a flag-lined State Street (the Chicago Theatre can be seen in the background); the Eucharistic Congress held its opening Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, followed by a procession on State Street on June 20, 1926. Next is footage of a large Mass at Soldier Field. The footage continues with shots of a similar assembly on the grounds of Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary (now known as Mundelein Seminary) in Mundelein, Illinois, likely on the final day of the Eucharistic Congress. Various religious officials greet the hundreds of thousands of Catholics who have gathered for the event.
Most of the rest of the reel features a trip to Colorado with John O. Armstrong, his wife Florence Wilson, and their three year old son Jack. They make campfires, take in the mountainous scenery, visit friends, and attend a rodeo.
Next, the film returns to footage from the Eucharistic Congress in Mundelein. Catholic officials are shown processing through a crowd on the grounds of the seminary's campus.
The film ends with scenes of the family standing near a body of water, and then boarding a train with the help of a porter.
