Abstract
Loosely assembled footage of the Vietnam Veteran's Day Parade that occurred in Chicago's Loop on the Friday of June 13, 1986. The film includes an excerpt of Mayor Harold Washington present in the reviewing stand at LaSalle St. and Washington St. as he reads a proclamation declaring the day to be "Vietnam Veteran's Day." Other notable figures present include Illinois Governor James Thompson, veteran and chairman of the parade committee Tom Stack, parade marshal and retired General William Westmoreland, Alderman Burton Natarus, Alderman Roman Pucinski, Washington's press secretary Alton Miller, and veteran James Patridge.
