Abstract
Loosely assembled footage documents a protest gathering outside the Michigan Avenue National Bank during Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos’ U.S. visit in September 1982. Shots include WMAQ-Channel 5 reporter Warner Saunders as he covers the event, revolving protest signage that denounces U.S. government support for Marcos’ dictatorship, and a performance piece in which actors wearing caricatured, handmade masks depict the World Bank and Ronald Reagan each pulling puppet strings bound to Marcos, who whips a dissident at their behest.
