Abstract
Loosely assembled footage captures Chicago's St. Patrick’s Day Parade activities in 1980 and 1981. Shots include Mayor Jane Byrne, reporter Jay McMullen, State’s Attorney Richard M. Daley, retired Major General Michael E. Healy as the 1981 grand marshal, ex-astronaut James McDivitt as the 1980 grand marshal, Loyola University student Kathleen Jordan as 1981 Queen of the City of Chicago Miss St. Patrick’s Day Contest, the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band, and parade floats as they proceed along State Street. Footage also includes part of an interview with McDivitt as filmmaker Bill Stamets asks him to describe how parade marching resembles moon launching.
