Abstract
Loosely assembled footage documents the grand opening and dedication ceremony for the Chicago Public Library’s Conrad Sulzer Regional Library at 4455 N. Lincoln Avenue. Shots include the following: a parade; the unveiling of Conrad Sultzer’s portrait inside the library; an excerpt of Mayor Harold Washington as he delivers a speech; the Community for Accountability of Public Art as they protest the commission of Irene Siegel’s fresco Aeneid for the library’s meeting room walls; Library Board President James Lowry, Regional Library Director Leah Steele, Chicago Park District Superintendent Edmund Kelly, and Alderman Eugene Schulter as they participate in a ribbon-cutting moment outside the library’s entrance.
