See, today, men and women out in the streets, cleaning the streets in the middle of the winter, they don't get any benefits.

They have to pay union dues.

If they get injured, they get no benefits.

It's just an hourly scale.

It's a human tragedy.

They'll take anything.

They'll take $2 an hour, $5, $8 an hour.

They want work.

And what the mayor of the city of Chicago has been doing is dangling this out to Wisconsin Steel.

Two years ago, the mayor of the city of Chicago stood at the Conrad Hilton Hotel and stood up with the chairman of the Democratic Party, incidentally represented the union, and said, as mayor of the city of Chicago, you're going to have your jobs back in three weeks.

Every one of those employees are still waiting to hear from the mayor.

First of all, you seriously have to look at the budget of the city of Chicago.

If we want to be world class with fireworks and Christmas decorations running downtown, lighting the bridges, all these unnecessary waste in government, I believe you have to cut it back because in the hard economic times with the growth of the government, the growth of taxes, this year $480 million in new taxes, I firmly believe the people cannot carry on this concept of a worldwide reputation that free spending in the city of Chicago for, I believe, programs that are not meeting the human needs of the city.

But I believe there is a greater message to tell your friends and neighbors to vote their conscience, and we will win this election.

We should have an energy conservation program from the city hall as an administrator working with audits and communities.

With education, jobs, and economic development, when we see in this city just one week ago a plant on the south side of the city, Chicago, Wanser, closed down on 55th off of Wabash.

Not a cry, not a shout from anyone in city government, and a loss of 200 jobs.

Two hundred jobs is many jobs in this city.

It's a loss of a plant.

It's a loss of a city and put their signs up.

We have strong points in campaigns.

Who has accomplishments? And I do have a distinction when I ran for state's attorney.

Both of my opponents opposed me against the Republican just two years ago.

And what I said about the office but as mayor of the city of Chicago.

And what we see today is 30 or 40 thousand people standing in line, which is a human tragedy.

They should not stand in line for jobs.

The city of Chicago must have an effective job program.

I need your help.

Whether it's wearing the button, whether it's putting up a sign in your home, talk to your friends and neighbors and relatives all over the city and your co -workers.

Because we can make a difference.

The endowment for the next few days is to ring a few doorbells, talk to a few people, because on February 22nd, we will have a great victory.
