Boo And along with that word was a group of other scary things called Monsters But of course monsters aren't real are they Of course not But sometimes children get scared They get scared when they hear the word or when they think they see a monster You mean there are no such things as Giebel monsters and Deebals monsters Oozle monsters and floozle blonsters Of course not You mean it's silly to be afraid of nicknames and flab tails Piliwoks and Lobel -Docks lunacies and pillion apple dotes That's very silly Well, I know one more thing that it's silly to be afraid of what's that the dark in your room monster the what The dark in your room monster.

I do sometimes get afraid of the dark in my room Well, no wonder you probably don't know about room noodles Room noodles are your best friends when you're scared in your room You probably hear them making funny noises in the dark.

I Do hear funny noises sometimes That's just your room noodles tickling a monster and making him giggle You've probably seen room noodles, too.

They move around in the dark a lot Why do you see something moving sometime? That's just your room noodles tangling up the spooky booze and carrying them away Where do room noodles come from well, I'm glad you asked On Halloween night a long time ago The lightning was thundering and the wind was a blow Even the grown -ups were white Here they thought there were witches and spooky things near But one little kid who was up very late Said it's only those noodles that jumped off my plate They slipped through my fingers and flew out the door You won't ever catch them.

There'll always be more The People looked up in that dark scary sky and saw there were noodles that really could fly Those noodles are silly said one frightened man.

I can't keep from laughing as hard as I can Two women did somersaults laughing with glee Three teenagers giggled and rolled in the sea The crowd laughed so loudly it fell in a heap but ten minutes later they all went to sleep And so you see room noodles are your friends I Like those silly over news Well, that's good Then I'll bet you would like to know the magic rhyme to use when you want the room noodles to come and visit you at night a magic rhyme Sure, what is it? Are you ready listen carefully room noodles room Noodles, I hear spooks.

Abstract

Spooky Boo's and Room Noodles, one of Somersaulter-Moats and Somersaulter's first children's films, is an animated lesson about fear of the dark. Faced with dark-in-your-room monsters, scary sounds and other things that go bump in the night, a child learns to invoke "room noodles" to banish the monsters. Told in a back-and-forth conversation between the child and a narrator, Spooky Boo's is a playful story meant to show children how to use their imaginations to overcome fear. The film used a technique called cut-out animation, and was extremely commercially successful.
