Abstract
A little red hen wants to bake some bread, and invites the other farm animals to help her. They refuse, invariably — their animated animal sounds transforming into the animals themselves at each step along the way. When it comes time to eat the bread, however, the other animals are more than happy to help. Alas, the hen reminds them that she is the one who did all the work. This tale about reaping what you sow is particularly notable for the way it links the audible animal noises to their written iterations ("Oink oink") to the animated animals themselves.
