There's about 500 senior citizens who come for the Christmas baskets going as far west as Ashland and down 18th Street.
Canned fruits and chicken and soft packs and just things that they can use during the holidays.

And who does all the hard work? Young people from the neighborhood, the teenagers.
It's a combination of several different groups.
Some are like 80 and 90 years old.
They can't carry the baskets all over the place.
So we have like a lot of students and they come and they help.

About 10 to 12 canned goods, one chicken, some milk and cereal.
But many of the seniors only have about $2 ,200 worth of income.
So a small thing like this may not seem very much to many people, but it is very important to them.
Christmas is a wonderful time, but I think that people get overly absorbed and feeling deprived if they don't have a condition.
It's a very conventional Christmas.
