Donny and Marie Osmond - Mill Run Osmond Show 9-10-79

Transcript (Download)

We'll turn it over to Jimmy.

Jimmy will come out for a few minutes and Donnie and I will come back to do their country rock and roll kind of a spot and we'll all edit together.

We're trying some things here too that are, you know, one thing that we grew up doing was singing close harmonies.

That's without any accompaniment at all and it's been working just super in the other parts of the country.

And we want to try that here and just do some real close harmonies and there's seven of us and we've got a song that has seven parts in it.

It's complicated but we enjoy doing it and the reaction seems to be that the audience does too.

I won't give it away but...

Are we going to see puffs of smoke tonight? I don't know, are you? Well, I don't know, so many acts these days seem to have that in there.

Well, some acts have to lean on that.

We want to do a show that's us.

I think people go away knowing...

Now come to the concert with their boyfriends, you know, and they all kind of get married.

Introduce us to their husbands.

Yeah, they're married, some of them.

And Jimmy will be going into Las Vegas by ourselves.

But that's going to be exciting.

Is this the first time? First time.

First time.

It's interesting because at night we do these shows and then in the mornings we're rehearsing to get everything together for that because as soon as we leave here we go right there.

But I don't think the structure of the family will change at all because we are a very tight family and each one of us has his own responsibility in the organization.

What is yours? Smiling.

That's not a bad responsibility to have.

Not at all.

One thing though that's interesting is even though we do work together as a family in places like this, we also do things on our own and I think that's important too.

You know, you've got to be able to be a soloist in order to perform in a group and be interesting.

So there are a lot of things that we do and we enjoy them all.

Thank you both very much.

Fidgeting and recording and all the different records, that's when our popularity seemed to embellish the most.

So you had really been together for about, what, 10, 11 years at that time? 16 in the last two years you've started two new major businesses.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Well, I wish you could find something to do in your spare time, Jimmy.

No, I fly radio control airplanes.

I love it.

You're amazing.

Yeah, I love it.

Thank you very much and I'm looking forward to seeing your show.

Thank you.

Thank you, honey.

Right me.

Well, honey, I'm going to go to the bathroom.

Welcome to E! Terrific.

That's pretty.

Thank you, honey.

Hey, a lot more songs.

Brothers.

Let me just ask y 'all a question one more song.

Are you enjoying yourselves tonight? Have a good time.

What we thought we'd do here tonight is thank you for coming out and being here.

I'm going to play you a few songs that have been very good for the both of us.

And I believe that Donald is going to start.

Your microphone works.

This microphone doesn't work.

Here we go.

Hello.

Don't want you to get a hit song with a certain kind of feel.

You'll have to stay with it.

I'm leaving it all up to you.

You decide what you're gonna do.

Now, do you want my love? Or are we good? And they call me popular.

Oh, I guess they'll never know.

How a young heart really feels.

And why I love a soul.

Someone help me! Yes, somebody help him! I'm glad you stopped me.

Neard The people came from miles around But you know, no matter where we traveled or what we did Whether it's tap dancing or instruments, whatever The one thing we had the most requests for was to sing the close harmony we started out with And we'd like to sing you right now one of our favorite songs And it's called Who Are the Sunshine by the Moon
