People Week - Disco Skaters, Ballet Dancers - in Windows - Music on State St. Mall 7-16-79
Footage of the seventh annual “People Week” which was held July 16-21, 1979, sponsored by the State Street Council.
This film opens with a performance by the Gus Giordano Dancers in the Marshall Field and Company’s window at State and Washington Streets, and shows a captivated crowd watching through the glass as the dancers pirouette and jive. In the following scene, the Village Wizards from New York City engage in live disco skating in the Marshall Field and Company’s window located at State and Washington Streets. The crowd is so thick that one man finds a view standing on top of a nearby fire hydrant. The film concludes with a stage performance at the southwest corner of State and Washington Streets by the Rudy Varju Family, five harmonica wizards.
