Abstract
The dedication of Richard J. Daley Bicentennial Plaza.
Description
Opening footage shows Patrick O’Malley, President of the Board of Commissioners of the Chicago Park District, as he gives a public speech at a podium commemorating former Mayor Richard J. Daley’s life and introduces the surrounding Richard J. Daley Bicentennial Plaza. Subsequent speakers include WLS-TV’s Fahey Flynn and Mayor Jane Byrne. Eleanor Daley is also in attendance. The commemoration transitions to provided entertainment which includes two unidentified young women performing an Irish jig, and shots briefly capture the plaza’s newly installed playground and tennis courts. The film concludes with an excerpt of a speech provided by the deceased mayor’s son, Richard M. Daley.
