We don't want to strike.

I can't say that enough times.

There's no one here that is looking forward to a fight with these people if we can settle it.

But if we have to strike, we will strike.

Some of my remarks early in the meetings were misinterpreted when I was asked if I thought the owners could cancel the season, and I said no, that will not happen.

And it was printed that I said that I guarantee there'd be no strike.

Well, that's two different things completely.

We don't believe that the season will be canceled.

By the same token, we have to have the capability to withhold our services.

It's the only weapon we have.

So we're going to bargain in good faith, and we trust that we will get the same kind of response from management and that we can settle this thing without a strike.
