I don't really try to put myself onto a ball player.

I think I can teach him.

But as for me going to a ball player trying to throw myself on him I never do that because a lot of time a ball player might not like the way I'm teaching.

I can't understand that.

You don't find them quite as receptive as maybe you think maybe they should be.

Well I don't worry about it.

I'm not trying.

I'm not pushing by no means.

I understand the game a little bit.

But if a guy want to know and I feel that I have something to offer him I try to tell him as much as I can and I let it go at that.

But other than that I don't really get mad at anyone.

Willie you're as usual you're looking good.

You look younger every time I talk to you.

Well I don't know about that.

I just enjoy what I'm doing out here.

I'm trying to do as well as I can.

But I don't know how long I'm going to be able to go on the field.

But as far as condition I try to do that all the time.

Willie I guess it's been sort of a tough season for you so far.

No I never worry about tough season.

I mean everybody have ups and downs.

I think that's the time when I think the great guys can come back when they are down.

I don't feel that I'm having a bad enough season where I have to worry about myself.

Baseball wouldn't seem the same without a Willie Mays in that lineup.

We're going to see it for a while longer.

Well I don't know about that.

I never worry about you know when I'm playing as far as baseball because baseball is always going to be a game where they're going to have ball players on the field whether it be myself or anybody.

Willie do you ever think about your future at all? You must a little bit right? I have a future.

I think if you've been reading the paper I have a 10 year contract with the match.

I have a pretty good finance security in Salt Lake City with Mr.

So money is not a problem.

The problem is if I want to continue playing on this year.

While in town to play the Chicago Cubs, New York Mets center fielder Willie Mays speaks with WLS-TV reporter Bill Frink at Wrigley Field. After a shot of Mays warming up in the field, the 42 year-old is asked about mentoring younger players and what his future holds.

The 1973 season was Mays' 22nd and final season in the MLB. He is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility in 1979.
