Film documents the rescue response to the sinking of the limestone carrier, SS Carl D. Bradley.
Opening footage displays a photograph of the Carl D. Bradley, followed by ground and aerial footage of rescue efforts, including shots of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sundew and the liftoff of a coast guard helicopter. The Sundew’s Lieutenant Commander Harold Muth speaks about the condition of the two survivors discovered in a life raft, followed by more aerial footage. The Sundew is shown pulling into the port of Charlevoix, Michigan where many bystanders have gathered. Numerous bodies are transferred off the vessel as well as one surviving crewman, probably Frank Mays, as indicated by his hair color. The film concludes as Muth provides additional remarks concerning the two survivors and the number of bodies recovered.
