Abstract
Eisenhower and Nixon’s 1956 re-election campaign parades through Chicago.
Description
This film begins with silent footage of Vice President Richard Nixon and Second Lady Pat
Nixon as they ride in a motorcade that is part of a parade supporting the 1956 re-election campaign for Eisenhower and Nixon. One vehicle’s banner advertises Nixon’s talk on civil rights at the Trianon Ballroom on Thursday, October 25. The motorcade appears to arrive at the Imperial Credit Corporation’s entrance on Dearborn St. The remainder of the film shows Nixon as he gives a speech at a luncheon for the Covenant club at 10 North Dearborn St. He stresses the need to look past partisan politics and asserts there is no man more revered than the current president of the United States.
