United Nations War Correspondent Frank Koza reports on active military conflict in Seoul involving U.S. Marines supporting the Republic of Korea’s Army vs. North Korea’s Korean People’s Army. Subsequently, U.S. General Douglas MacArthur and South Korean President Dr. Syngman Rhee meet with United Nations representatives and political and military personnel to discuss plans. Captured enemy personnel and equipment, and infrastructural damage in and around Seoul are shown.

Telenews: Coast to Coast presents The World in Action compiled by the editors of Telenews. The episode is titled, “Korea: The Fall of Seoul.”

The film opens with Frank Koza labeling footage he has just filmed in the active war zone in Seoul. U.S. Marines, including Corporal Ray Maloney of Normal, Illinois, PFC Ray Miracle of Kentucky, and Sgt. Ed Hyde of Oklahoma City are identified among the U.S. Marine troops on the scene. Communist North Korean prisoners of war are marched naked into a holding area. Corpses are present on the banks of the Han River. Footage shows destruction of the U.S. Information Building, U.N. Building, roads, a streetcar, and a tank. The narration indicates that South Korean forces have retaken the Government Palace.

Footage taken several days later shows a large meeting where U.S. General Douglas MacArthur, South Korean President Dr. Syngman Rhee, and U.S. Ambassador to South Korea John Muccio meet with United Nations officials to discuss plans. Lt. General Walton Walker, who led U.S. 8th Army forces in 1950 before his death in a jeep accident on December 23, 1950, is present at the meeting.

The film’s conclusion titled, “Liberation at a Price,” shows small arms, ammunition caches, helmets, and cases of whiskey abandoned by North Korean troops in Seoul.
