Abstract
First Deputy Premier of the Soviet Union Frol R. Kozlov visits the Midwest in 1959.
Description
The film begins as First Deputy Premier of the Soviet Union Frol R. Kozlov’s airplane arrives in Chicago, and he is met by a group of journalists. Kozlov then tours the Inland Steel Company in East Chicago, Indiana, followed by a visit to the 750-acre farm owned by Illinois Farm Bureau member, James Holderman, located near Morris, IL. Kozlov meets Holderman’s 15-year-old daughters, Ramona and Roberta, and his wife, Ruth, who prepares lunch. The film concludes with a meeting between Kozlov and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Meanwhile, anti-communist protests occur outside of City Hall.
