Custodial History
The films were donated to Chicago Film Archives in 2023 by Bruce and Mark Hegberg, the sons of Richard and Lois Hegberg and grandsons of Reuben and Anna Hegberg.

Appointments must be made with Chicago Film Archives for on-site access. Due to the fragile nature of the films, only digital copies will be provided for on-site viewing.

Creators
Hegberg, Reuben O. (was created by)
Reuben Oscar Hegberg was born 26 Dec 1886 in Chicago, the son of Swedish immigrants Augusta (Peterson) and Carl Magnus Hegberg. Reuben had eight siblings. After his mother died in 1892, his father remarried to Hattie Marie Starr in 1898. Reuben's father Carl was a Lithographer, and founded Federal Photo-Engraving Co. in Chicago.

In 1912, Reuben Hegberg married Anna Lindahl (1886-1966), also of Chicago. They had three children: Marion (b. 1915), Jeanne (b. 1917), and Richard (b. 1926). The family lived at 5347 Lakewood Ave in the Edgewater neighborhood. Reuben (known professionally as "R.O.") worked at Federal Engraving and Colortype Co. at 501-505 S. La Salle St. He died in 1974 in Chicago, and is buried in Rosehill Cemetery.
Hegberg, Anna (Lindahl) (was created by)
Anna (Lindahl) Hegberg was born in Chicago in 1886, the child of Swedish immigrants Christine (Lindberg) and Charles Lindahl. She had four siblings.

In 1912, Anna married Reuben Hegberg, also of Chicago. They had three children: Marion (b. 1915), Jeanne (b. 1917), and Richard (b. 1926). The family lived at 5347 Lakewood Ave in the Edgewater neighborhood. Anna died in 1966, and is buried in Rosehill Cemetery.
Hegberg, Richard A. (was created by)
Richard ("Dick") Hegberg was born in 1926 in Chicago to Anna (Lindahl) and Reuben O. Hegberg. He had two older sisters, Marion (b. 1915) and Jeanne (b. 1917). Dick was a lifelong resident of Chicago, raised at 5347 Lakewood Ave in the Andersonville-Edgewater neighborhood.

Upon graduation from Senn High School at the height of WWII, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving in Patrol Bombing Squadron VPB-91, Fleet Air Wing 4, and Air Transport Squadron 5. After graduating from IIT with a degree in mechanical engineer following the war, Dick married Lois Sundin. The couple had two sons, Mark and Bruce.

Dick had a successful career as an engineer in building sciences and controls, being employed by Bell & Gossett and then Powers Regulator Company. He was a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for over 60 years; he was instrumental in founding Illinois ASHRAE professional education, having educated thousands new to a field not commonly covered in higher education. He was additionally a devoted Sunday school superintendent for Edgebrook Lutheran Church and scoutmaster of BSA Troop 957 for many years. Hegberg died in 2019.
