[Junior Wells and Phil Guy] #1
This footage comprises two U-matic video tapes shot by John McNaughton using a Hitachi video camera. At this time, McNaughton was living in the south suburbs of Chicago, working as a carpenter, and was just learning how to use a video camera.
The tapes are labeled “Jr. Wells, Buddy Guy, Aug. 1979,” but Buddy Guy does not appear.
The musicians on the tape appear to be:
- Phil Guy (with red electric guitar)
- Junior Wells (with black and white checked coat, singing and playing harmonica).
- John Primer (wearing a ballcap and playing a black hollow body guitar)
- J. W. Williams (playing a red pentagonal five-string bass guitar)
- B. B. Odom (aka Andrew "Big Voice" Odom), who joins the group to sing during the encore at the end of Tape #2.
- The drummer is not visible, but is introduced as “Brother Ray.” This is likely Ray "Killer" Allison, who recorded an album with Junior Wells and J. W. Williams in 1979
