Ann Arbor Ad
“This was shot in the early Spring of 1969, in the third-floor hallway of my dorm, Regina Hall, at St. Xavier University, Chicago, on one 100-ft roll of 16mm B&W reversal film. It was edited mostly in the camera, plus using a small desktop viewer and hand rewinds. There was never a print (I couldn't afford it). The finished product was the edited camera original, which was projected for the intended purpose as a trailer at St. Xavier Film Society public screenings. It was made to be a promo trailer to advertise the school's upcoming three-day screenings of the 1969 Ann Arbor Film Festival Tour, presented by the college film festival for which I was one of the officers. I recruited women in my dorm who would agree to have the text painted on their backs and appear topless (anonymous and from the back only). All shot within one hour on one evening. Participants unidentified as a condition of participating in the film.”
