Abstract
Scenes from the annual "shop picnic" for the Eagle Sheet Metal Factory in the late 1930s. The picnics were major company-sponsored all-day events held in reserved sections of the Cook County Forest Preserve. This film includes scenes of employees and their families playing horseshoes and drinking beer, as well as shots of the Eagle's baseball team, which played in an industrial league. There are also shots of employees posing in front of the shop itself, which was in several different locations on the northside of Chicago until moving to Niles, Illinois, in the 1960s.
