Microscopic time-lapse footage of a pollen grain and the stigma of a flower exchanging contact and producing growth activity in six segments.
Description
This time-lapse microscopic film depicts the contact between a pollen grain and a stigma of a flower and the corresponding growth activity in six segments. In segment one, a pollen grain and stigma are shown without any interaction. In segment two, the pollen has been activated through contact with a live stigma. Segment three displays the growth of a pollen tube toward the stigma. Segment four presents a pollen grain in contact with the stigma, protoplasm has been activated, and is transferring to the stigma. Segment five shows several pollen grains, their protoplasm is activated and is transferring through pollen tubes. The sixth and concluding segment displays a grain of pollen with droplets forming on its upper edge.
