This time-lapse film of the 51st Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade shows many of that year's participating marching bands and the following balloons and floats accompanied by various guest celebrities all in the following order:
The Big Apple float with Andrea McArdle, the Happy Dragon balloon, the Pilgrim Man and Woman float, the Rocking Horse float, the Tom Turkey float with Mel Tillis, the Weeble balloon, the Skating Clowns, the Airplane float, the Cinderella float, the Raggedy Ann and Andy float, the Smokey the Bear balloon, the Jolly Polly Pirates Ship float with The Trammps, the L.A. Wheels Skateboard Team float, the Disney Castle float with The Kids of the Kingdom, the Mickey Mouse balloon, the Rocking Giraffe float with Wally Amos, the George Washington and Ben Franklin float, the Doodlebug float with Gloria Gaynor, the Old Country Village float with Lou Rawls, the Snoopy balloon, the Mr. Snail float, the Watership Down float, the University of Pennsylvania Glee Club Showboat float, the "If you haven't seen Macy's, You Haven't Seen New York" Banner, the Linus the Lionhearted balloon, the cast of Beatlemania, the Sesame Street float with Big Bird, the Kermit the Frog balloon, the Cootie float, the Mother Goose float, the Bullwinkle Moose balloon, the Bear Bee float, the Bugs Bunny Follies float, The Hobbit float, the Underdog balloon, and Santa's Sleigh float. The film concludes as throngs of spectators converge on the streets after the parade has passed.
John Ott shot this footage for NBC-TV's coverage of the event. The entire parade included nine balloons, 12 marching bands and 29 floats that began their route at Central Park West & 77th Street and ended at Macy's flagship location in Herald Square.
